Just over a week ago, I boarded a plane with my husband as we set out on a cross-continental move to serve at a school in Amman, Jordan.
Just over a year ago, I was living alone and running my coaching practice in Portland, Oregon – never expecting to be living overseas.
Change happens.
Growth, transition, and development are inevitable.
It’s how we choose to deal with what occurs and respond intentionally that matters.
What was your life like a year ago today? Take a moment to notice what is similar and what has shifted.
Where are you now that you never expected to be?
How has life surprised you?
What have you learned?
Honor these lessons and treasure the trials and blessings that brought you here today.
As you choose to embrace whatever change comes your way in the next year, here are some foundational guidelines for the intentional way of living:
Activate Curiosity – Part of the change is accepting that you may not know or have any experience doing this before. Get curious by asking more questions and paying attention to what life is showing you each day.
Celebrate Success – Instead of rushing on to the next task, pause and celebrate what you’ve accomplished. Even a simple acknowledgment of gratitude makes all the difference and can set the tone for your next goal.
Embrace Joy – Make time to do things that replenish and restore your life (yes, you’re not too busy). Go for a walk, grab coffee with a friend, journal, dance, cook, dream… Whatever brings you joy and energy, embrace it daily!
These three guidelines will help you stay more present and grounded as change occurs.
